It is best to send at least 2 photos of the side of the building you would like your image of. For most people it’s the front of the house, but it might be the back, or perhaps you like the side entrance better.
Ensure it is:
- Clear (perhaps try to take a picture on a sunny day)
- The whole of the building fits in the photo, from the front step to the chimney
- If you photo is old or low-quality, don’t assume I won’t be able to use it, reach out
- Don’t worry – the beauty of consulting first is that I can let you know if the photos will work before you commit
Timelines depend on prompt approval and payment.
Once I have had your photos and received the deposit it will take me around 2 days to come up with the first ink sketch.
After you approve the ink sketch and the final payment is received, please allow another 2 days for painting.
Timely approval and payment help keep your delivery date on track – delays may shift the final completion date.
You’ll be notified as soon as your artwork is dispatched.
All artAll artworks are packaged with acid‑free mounts and backing boards, wrapped in a protective sleeve, and posted in rigid packaging to prevent bending.
UK customers can choose between:
- Royal Mail Special Delivery (next‑day guaranteed), around £10 depending on size
- Royal Mail Tracked 48, around £6 depending on size
I don’t currently ship internationally – but watch this space!
Shipping costs are non‑refundable, and courier delays are outside my control.
- Keep it out of direct sunlight to keep the colours bright. Watercolour pigments can fade over time if exposed to strong sun. Hang it in a spot with indirect light. Avoid windowsills or walls that get strong afternoon sun.
- Don’t touch the surface. Oils from fingers can mark or smudge ink and watercolour. Handle by the edges, keep it in it’s protective sleeve until framing, and avoid wiping or brushing the surface of the painting.
- Avoid humidity and damp. Watercolour paper can warp and ripple, or develop mould in damp environments. Avoid bathrooms, kitchens with steam and rooms with poor ventilation. Ideally hang them in a stable temperature with low humidity and good airflow.
- If framing. I will send it with acid-free mount board and backing. This will enable a small air gap between the glass of your frame and the artwork. Ensure your glass is UV-protective.
- Storage. If not framing it immediately, store it flat, in its protective sleeve, in a dry drawer or portfolio and away from heat sources. Avoid rolling. It can cause permanent curl. Avoid leaning it against objects as it can dent the paper.
- Cleaning. If framed behind glass it is safe to clean the outside with a soft cloth, but spray any cleaners onto the cloth not the frame to avoid seepage. Never open the frame to clean the inside, or use liquids near the artwork itself.
No — I send your artwork with an acid‑free mount and backing board, ready for you to frame in your preferred style.
As much as we try, sometimes life happens and items are damaged in transit.
If your artwork arrives damaged, please contact me within 48 hours with photos of the packaging and the artwork.
I will recreate the piece as closely as possible at no extra cost, and I’ll handle the courier claim on my end. Shipping costs are non‑refundable.
If the new delivery date doesn’t work for you, just let me know.
No, just buildings for me!
I love adding a bit of personality! It will depend a bit on the size of your artwork. I can add simple details, and we can talk about those when we discuss the design for your piece!
Ideas have so far included:
- wedding dates / moving in dates
- house numbers
- a short personal message
- pets in windows (including a dinosaur!)
- “gone golfing” sign
A4 (210 x 297mm or 8.3 x 11.7 inches)
A3 (297 x 420mm or 11.7 x 16.5 inches)
Both sizes include mounts.
Yes – you’ll receive an ink sketch before colour is added. You can request up to two minor changes at this stage (three drafts total).
Once colour is added, no further changes are possible.
Major changes may incur additional fees.
You may withdraw from the commission only at the ink stage if the artwork isn’t what you expected. The deposit remains non‑refundable, but no further payment is required.
Yes – digital copies are available for a small additional charge.
Digital files are for personal use only, cannot be refunded once delivered, and must not be uploaded to AI systems or used commercially.
